I would like to acknowledge that I live, work, study and play on the traditional, stolen lands of many diverse Indigenous Peoples, specifically the land of the Lekwungen people which includes the Esquimalt and Songhees, Pacheedaht, Scia’new, T’Sou-ke, and W̱SÁNEĆ nations. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the privilege that I hold, as an uninvited white settler living and working on these stolen lands. Indigenous Peoples have lived on these lands since time immemorial, and they represent ways of life that were and are disrupted by the cultural and physical genocide of colonialism. This recognition is part of my ongoing commitment to reconciliation and decolonizing my practice. I’m dedicated to continued learning and reflection so I can contribute to creating a therapeutic space that fosters safety, respect, and empowerment for all individuals.
