Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about getting started, rates, insurance, and what to expect from our work together.
Getting started
-
Yes — I offer a free 20-minute consultation over the phone or via Jane Telehealth, a secure, encrypted video platform, to new clients. It's a relaxed chat to see if we're a good fit, with no obligation. You can book directly through my online calendar.
-
Through my secure online booking system (Jane App), or by reaching out via the contact form. -
Yes. I work with teens 13+ and adults, with a special focus on anxiety, intrusive thoughts and OCD in young people. Parents are welcome to book the free consultation first.
Sessions & fees
-
A 60-minute session is $150 and a 90-minute session is $210. My rates typically increase every 2–3 years; you'll always be given advance notice before any increase.
-
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in my day that could have been filled by another client. I require 48 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice are charged a 50% fee to the card on file; less than 24 hours notice is charged the full session fee. Please reach out with any questions about this policy.
-
Yes. I hold sliding scale spots for roughly 20–25% of the people I work with. We agree together on a set rate for 10 sessions; near the end of that period, you can continue at the regular rate, close services, or join the waitlist for the next sliding-scale spot.
-
Many extended health plans cover a portion of sessions with an RSW (Registered Social Worker). My registration number is #14073. I'm not able to bill insurers directly, but you'll receive a receipt after each session to submit for reimbursement.

Online via Jane Telehealth, a secure, encrypted video platform, across all of BC, and in person in Nanaimo.
The work itself
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD. Gently and collaboratively, we practice facing feared thoughts and situations without performing compulsions — retraining the brain's alarm system. I'm trained through the International OCD Foundation and CBT School, and pair ERP with mindfulness and self-compassion so the work never feels punishing.
-
That's very common. I use CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for generalized worry, panic, social anxiety and intrusive thoughts — alongside mindfulness practices that change your relationship with anxious thinking itself.
-
Trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and relationship-centred. I integrate mindfulness and self-compassion with evidence-based therapies (ACT, CBT, ERP, EFT, IFS-informed). I consider myself a guide rather than an expert.
-
Yes — everything shared in session is confidential within the limits of the law, which we review together in your first session.
Mindfulness offerings
-
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is an 8-week, evidence-based program in mindfulness meditation and mindful hatha yoga, developed at the Stress Reduction Clinic.
-
No — the course is a comprehensive introduction. You'll need about 45 minutes a day for home practice during the 8 weeks.
